Anyone heard from CMP lately? I'm in the 30,000 range, hoping they'll have something left by the time my number comes up.

I was in the high 21K range, cant remember exactly. Mine is currently at the FFL and I should be able to pick it up Thursday. If they are doing 1K per month, which is what I thought I read somewhere, you may still have a while.

Based on reports from the CMP forum looks like they’re at about 22,400 as of today. Right now they’re out of service grades at this time so it’s been rack or field only for a week or so.

Just visited my CMP 1911A1 at FFL. I had an RGN of 22,626 and got my call Tuesday 6/15 and it was here in MD on Wednesday. I was offered a Service or a Field and chose Field.

Its interesting because I was watching the CMP forums and for the longest time all three grades were available and then Service dropped off for a while and people reported only Field/Rack. Then all of a sudden Service popped back into the choice and Rack dropped off. Perhaps its coincidence but around that time there were CMP posts about people trying to return their rack grades. Perhaps CMP pulled back and re-approached? I have no idea the method they use to queue up inventory.

Looking at the latest on CMP its all over the map. I have seen recently people offered Service/Field, Field/Rack all in the same week. Perhaps each "station" has what they have for a moment in time to distribute.

I don't know much about what I received and am a total newb on 1911's /especially USGI. I'm just honored to have this piece of history. In many ways I feel good that these are going back into the hands of U.S. Citizens.

I think its a Colt frame from 1943 and it has a Remington Rand Slide.

Hey, that’s darned pretty, will shoot well
    and take a beating…congrats!!!!

I was too lazy to do the paperwork on
    both go-‘rounds.

Guess I will have to pony up for one
    through the CMP auction site…everyone
should own at least one real 1911A1.
I put it right up there with the M1
Garand…the rifle which I have heard called
    the greatest battle implement ever
devised, by someone who would know.

I agree with this statement. It's exactly why I got a cmp garand and am awaiting the 1911 call.

Any thoughts out there on the auction
    1911’s versus the luck-of-the-draw 1911’s?
It seems to me (who is not a 1911 expert)
that they are still mixed bags, but that at
least you know in advance what it is
    you’re buying.

Auctions are overpriced mix masters. Some people have more money then cense. Does CMP list some rare or early 1911 framed guns, yes. If you collect or "need" that one being auctioned well, your money your rules.

Luck of the draw ones. Are still USGI that have been there an done that. Mine was rebuilt twice. So, shipped overseas during WWII, then shipped to a Unit that served in Korea, rebuilt before Vietnam an went to the 16th Cav after rebuild an then rebuilt again in '80. Now, that is history even if it sat in an arms room.

Days of the $500 USGI 1911(A1)'s are gone. Get one while you can.

I missed the 2nd round buy, anyone know if there will be a 3rd? Life got in the way and totally missed the timeline

When the Second is done. That's if the current administration doesn't end it an bring Capt Crusher back.

Round 2 started about four months after the last round 1 was posted.

Received email this morning, called right away. They still have all three options, Service, Field, and Rack available. Selected a field grade. She said it should ship out today and be at FFL tomorrow.
