Sheesh, he's a bruiser. Hope you had help getting him to your vehicle.

Lol. Wished I did! I'm getting too old to drag these donkeys. I'm going back to shooting yearlings! :lol2:

How old do you think he is? By the pic,it seems he has quite a few rings

He had a 21" neck. That makes him my second biggest deer. He's at least 5.5-6.5. Hard to judge his body though. He walked straight to me, so I never got a profile of him. I just knew he was a shooter(6th or 7th buck I had seen that morning). I took a 10 yd quartering to shot on him from 35' up a tree. He went 40 yds and piled up.

Once you chew on this thing....your teeth will be yelling at you to stick with yearlings 2:
Back straps, burger. Lots of burger. I also get leg steaks for making stew.
I've eaten a few of these old deer and never noticed a big difference. A lot of deer this age(bucks) actually tend to marble.

    Had some luck last weekend.

Looks like I wasn't the only one. Congrats to everyone, especially our junior hunters, for connecting this past weekend.

I thought about posting this in the "Pictures that scream you're a..." thread(not really, but the thought made evil clown smile come back).

    :D

    Notice what he's wearing. :innocent0

Nice buck Outrider. Wow. That’s a species that I’m not familiar with. Congrats. Definitely a bruiser. You just inspired me to get back out this weekend.

I've been out almost every weekend in October and November so far. Had this wide 8 come 25 yards from my blind just before dark 2 Saturdays ago. I put a nice shot on him but blood was minimal. We tracked him for couple hours in the dark and came back the next morning, but no luck. It was eating me up. Found him 5 days later by the smell and buzzards. Crazy thing is we found him only about 100 yards past where we lost blood and stopped looking. I was able to retrieve his head for a nice Euro mount but of course no chance for any meat. I am just relieved to have found him.

This guy was run off by a bigger buck, he just ran into my direction.....

I had my best rutting observations on Monday, never witnessed the craziness like this before in all my hunting career, 9 different bucks in a span of 6 hrs.....
