Anyone have any idea how abundant they are in the area and what parts of Baltimore county they’ve spread to? Would love to smack some of these with my bow without having to head to southern md.

That’s what I’ve heard. It’s supposed to be a light white flaky meat. I haven’t had the chance to try it yet though.

Snakeheads may be an invasive species but they are damn good eating!

I have caught them and ate them and they seem like fish for people that don't like fish that much. Very plain white fish, IMO. The entire family prefers perch over them hands down.

They fight like hell too. I caught a 28" and everyone within 300 yards knew I had a big one. Use a net, many times they are NOT hooked and just camped on the lure like a vice grip.

What is the preferred setup for fishing these? Seems like they'd be a lot of fun, and I wouldn't mind some light white fish for supper sometime...

Pretty much the same setup for largemouth. It makes quite the sight when they blowup on a top water lure.

Kind of like cod but a little more firm IMO. Ive used the fish in Paella, grilled it and steamed it with a soy-ginger sauce. It definitely isn't a strong fishy smell or taste which is why I love it. If you can't beat em, eat em!

We fish for them in Seneca Creek, not far from Middle River and I have caught them in the Blackwater River on the shore as well.
