Any 2nd Amendment lawyers in Maryland have an explanation why police can't use Red Flag to invade known criminals' residences and confiscate their weapons and anything else illegal that turns up? Is it a civil rights issue?

I am not a lawyer... But they don't have paperwork saying they own weapons. Just hearsay.

So it is only legal to go after legal gun owners?
Beside that it is safer to crush legal owners. ;)

Objectively it is safer to go after legal gun owners because there is proportionately less risk involved. Anyone with a CCW in Maryland is unlikely to have anything more than a traffic ticket. Hell, if it's NYC, having a traffic ticket disqualifies you from having a handgun at all in most cases.

Right now as it is written they need some one to "say" they are a danger and have guns. Just being in a gang doesn't legally make you a danger, yeah I know i wrote that but trying to think like them. Of course if you are known to the police and have your name affiliated with a gang you must have already been involved or very close to trouble.

I suspect "hearsay" evidence of gun ownership is not unheard of in Red Flag cases.
