That is what scares me in the current form as well as an expanded form to come next GMA in Jan

Right now you could have a disagreement with a cop and tell him to get off your property and call him a couple un-kind words and maybe he can hit the judge up to Flag you .
I worry about this as retribution for people we don't like or care for .

That is an excellent sign idea for the future. I'd buy one, but don't want to be on a list.

I don't think there is a reimbursement clause in the law if they choose not to return your property.

It didn't bother me. You made the claim that people hadn't said negative things about people who don't come to PP events, and I just went and looked up the evidence, that's all.

I don't know you or what you do for the second amendment. I know that whatever I do, it is not enough compared to those that have lost their lives defending it.
I'm not going to get into a dick measuring contest over this. We all do what we can do, when and how we can do it.

There is not.

The law reads:
Quote:

(1) On expiration or termination of an extreme risk protective order, a law enforcement agency that holds any firearm or ammunition surrendered or seized in accordance with the expired or terminated order shall notify the respondent that the respondent may request the return of the firearm or ammunition.

(2) A law enforcement agency shall return a firearm or ammunition to a respondent only after the law enforcement agency verifies that the respondent is not otherwise prohibited from possessing the firearm or ammunition.

(3) Subject to paragraph (2) of this subsection, on request of the respondent, a law enforcement agency shall return all firearms and ammunition belonging to the respondent not later than:

(i) 14 days after the expiration of an interim or temporary extreme risk protective order;

(ii) 14 days after a court terminates a final extreme risk protective order; or

(iii) 48 hours after the expiration of a final extreme risk protective order.
And that's it. There's nothing in there about compensation at all. All that it says is that they have to notify you that you can request return of your stuff, and that after your request, they have 14 days to give it back (or 48 hours in the last circumstance).

And of course, they sneak this in at the end of the subtitle:

(1) no party shall have the right to assert ownership of the firearm or ammunition; and

(2) the law enforcement agency holding the firearm or ammunition may destroy the firearm or ammunition.
So if you don't claim your stuff within six months, it's forfeit and then can destroy it.

Will they try to make served ERPOs be put on a list like the sexual predator list? Must inform neighbors? Guns are more dangerous than sex ... well maybe. The public at large deserves to know?? Crap 2 more years of this.

It's interesting that if you got a DWI, they may impound your car, but you can get it back. If you loose a professional license, they don't take you business.

A pinch of sarcasm, no doubt, on Stoveman's part. It's hard to comprehend the state of this board when sensitivity to "calling out" is ban fodder, while the vicious remarks about an injured SCOTUS justice are ignored.
