Maryland House approves aid-in-dying bill after emotional debate

Suicides are 2/3 of the deaths by firearm. Most suicides are middle age or older people (fact, see here: https://afsp.org/about-suicide/suicide-statistics/ or the CDC WISQARS here: https://webappa.cdc.gov/sasweb/ncipc/mortrate.html). 60% of suicides are by people over 40 yrs old. Educated guess, a lot of those older people, who might be terminally ill or sick with a debilitating disease, would choose the doctor over a 357 magnum.

So, is this ok now, or what? I am confused? If its ok, are gun grabbers going to start excluding suicides from their goobered statistics? How do background checks and LGQL help with suicides anyway?

They don't, what's mentioned above prioritizes a method of control, not the actual behavior itself.

Educated people came up with that stuff. At least that's what I witnessed one particular Monday.

Their hypocrisy has no limit. If the suicide by firearm rate falls they will say it was do to the new control laws even if the overall rate goes up.

here we go.... guns kill....right. And the MGA or US Congress can't legislate morality. Can't really stop suicide, murder etc mostly social ills and morality.

I know a guy who killed himself last weekend. He had end stage cancer and was going to die within a week or two max.
His death will get tabulated as a suicide by rifle. He could’ve gobbled down all the pills next to his bed but chose the rifle instead.

Ironic that a state which outlawed the death penalty is bringing it back for willing participants.

I put this in the MD 2A section, not the water cooler, because I think that the hypocrisy should be on display for the whole world.

BTW, I am fine with this idea of euthanasia if you are terminal. I have seen the alternative where staff changes your bed pan and it sucks.

But, The hypocrisy from Annapolis makes my head hurt. Especially when they include suicides in "gun deaths". On that point, btw, the proportion of suicides by firearm has declined form 66% of suicides in 1993 to just over 50% today. Women use drugs or rope, men use guns, but more women are killing themselves. Yay, equality, or something.

Jen from the Bloomberg Mommy Brigade was testifying about how she was depressed as a teenager and wanted to kill herself, and that's why people without psychiatric issues should not have nasty guns.

But MD GA thinks suicide is OK, per their Death with Dignity legislation.

Without cognitive dissonance, we couldn't have a MD General Assembly.
