The law bans possession of anything that fits into its catch-all language. It makes no distinction whether you are a resident or just visiting.

Guess I won’t bring my gun oil lol.

Don't laugh, WE have to live with it...

Can I store my Ballistol at your house?

    (good natured ribbing...)

Wonder if I could turn this is to a business. Offer off-site gun cleaning and cleaning supply storage.

Depending on how hard this goes, might be a good business...

Someone here talked about out-of-state gun storage, but I lost track of who or when...

I made the suggestion, but someone chimed in and said it is already being done. You could probably buy an old bank in a depressed part of the state and store a bunch of stuff.

Here's an idea, keep what you have, and don't worry about some arbitrary unconstitutional infringements until the teams of jack boot thugs start invading people's homes.
Then you can tell the gun grabbing oath breaking bitches to come and get it. I am not a lawyer!

Hey, even Cody Wilson -fully- complied with the law to be able to say that.

I just mailed mine today along with my wife's. Certified. I told the girl at the post office that zip code may not show up on their system. She said, "it will. I have handled a lot of these letters to the ATF today for some reason." I gave her a brief rundown. I said that she can expect many more before October 1. So that is good news in my eyes. It shows that the ATF is going to get SLAMMED with mail from all over the state of Maryland. I do not necessarily expect a return receipt shortly after my delivered date, that's for sure.

Unfortunately the USPS is run by idiots. As someone who has worked with their internal IT services division I can tell you if the complete address does not show up in their data base it will not be delivered. If that zip code is not valid mailing these letters is pointless

Okay, that's your opinion. Thank you. I have mine. But note, he (Judge) didn't side with the plaintiff either and I have no intention on being on ATF's radar.

That's funny...I assume you own firearms since you are a member here....guess what...you are already on the government's radar...everyone here is...you want to know a not so secret secret? the government knows you own firearms. They also know a lot more than most people realize...iin the 1980s (long before the internet and social media) a co-worker and I were visited by 2 FBI agents at work because we both had subscriptions to AMERICAN SURVIVAL GUIDE magazine which was considered a subversive publication along with SOLDIER OF FORTUNE and a few others...

now if they were keeping track of that without the technology that exists today, what are they currently capable of? Your reasoning is laughable but hey, you only have your freedom and rights to lose.....right?

Good point...I've never been to a range where someone was using a bumpstock, nor have I ever seen a LEO demand to inspect anyone's firearm and even if they did you have the right to demand they get a warrant..I do not own anything that "I" believe would violate this "law" but i'm going to send in the letter anyway...once they find a valid mailing address

If you choose to email the completed application, the address is: FIPB@atf.gov
Given the seeming inability of the USPS deliver these in hard copy I have opted to submit via email.

FWIW, This does provide a generic automated response.

Thank you for your recent inquiry to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Firearms Industry Programs Branch (FIPB). It is the goal of FIPB to respond to requests from firearms industry members and the general public within 120 days of receipt. Although FIPB generally exceeds this goal, its ability to respond to such inquiries is impacted by a number of factors, such as available staffing resources, the sufficiency of information received from the requestor, existing precedence, necessary technical research, and any applicable legal review process.

Thank you for your inquiry and your cooperation.

I did the same thing and got the same canned reply. In about 24 hours though, I received this reply.

    Mr. Inkd:

ATF's position regarding Maryland’s new law is posted on our public website in a Special Advisory issued by our Office of Public Affairs. I have included a hyperlink to the advisory for your convenience below.

    https://www.atf.gov/news/pr/maryland-law-restricting-rapid-fire-trigger-activators

I trust this advisory clarifies ATF’s authority, however please let us know if we can be of further assistance by contacting us at (202)648-7120 or FIPB@atf.gov.

I also got the second follow-up from them, and they kindly included my original email in the reply providing additional evidence that I contacted them before October 1, 2018 seeking approval in the manner that MSI suggested.

It makes perfect sense that the governmental agency responsible for enforcing some of the most ridiculous convoluted laws in existence has an equal convoluted address. God forbid anything ever just worked or made sense :mad54:

Wife & I also believe we have no such speedy device(s) that could run afoul of this MD law, but today have sent in our request to the the BATF&E urged by the MSI organization that should cover our personal parts from legislative and/or prosecutorial abuse. We are encouraged that replies have been made by that bureau that acknowledge these applications. :o
