    From the study:

Meaning This study’s findings suggest that prior convictions for driving under the influence may be associated with the risk of subsequent arrest for a violent crime among legal purchasers of handguns.

    From the reporting:

Gun buyers in California convicted of driving under the influence are at greater risk of committing a violent crime or a firearm-related offense, a group of researchers at UC Davis found in a broad study that tracks gun purchasers over the span of a decade.

Congrats to The Sacramento Bee for demonstrating the finest bias possible in their reporting.

I think they would find, if the bother to study it in the first place, that the largest percentage of those committing "gun crime", and had DUIs, were people who couldn't buy a firearm legally in the first place but hey, that might ruin the story.

Wouldn't it be nice if Doctors stuck to practicing medicine? And then they whine when there's .gov or insurance company interference...

This, lol. Past run in with the law predicts future run in with the law.

The real issue (I have not read the study) - if people without a DUI have (say) a 1% chance, while people with a DUI have 5% chance, thats a 5x increase! :whoa: And its probably true. But it still means people with a DUI are 95% not going to get in trouble., so you cant restrict access merely on that basis. Gun grabbers will spin the 5-fold increase and say if there were only another law...

ETA: the study seems to say 2% and 9%. Not a terrible guess.

These studies are mostly done by Ph.D. style doctors. They can't practice medicine so have nothing better to do. If you could see some if the insurance company/government interference we deal with you would whine too. ;)

Give it enough time and it’ll be speeding tickets, j walkers and those who received detentions in the public school system.

    More reports to write!
