    Not bad for a sawbuck. Got a letter and an instruction manual.

    Should be the date of manufacture. More of a certificate of authenticity. Pretty cool that they will do this.

    Smith and Wesson charges $50.

    Colt charges different amounts depending on the firearm.

    Ruger is $10.

    I know it was manufactured in 1976 because it has the "200th Year Of American Liberty" roll mark. I imagine is was manufactured in late '76 and shipped in March of 1977.
