That sucks, man. Sorry to hear it's giving you fits.

FWIW, I had a Benjamin NP Elite in .22 and hated it. I tried sand bags and artillery holds and the best I could do was a 4" group at 30 yards. The more powerful the gun is, the more the dual recoil seems to affect the shot. If I get a break barrel again it'll be in .177. I'm sure someone could do better than me but I didn't have the patience for it and didn't trust myself to hit a squirrel head.

I have around 3000 trouble free shots through the Kral Puncher Breaker .22 I got after that. The zero recoil is wonderful with a high-zoom scope. Since you don't blink when it fires you can see the 1/2" wide army men go wheeeee! as they fly through the air shot after shot at 40 yards. It's a heckuva show.

I get that you had a bad experience with this gun but it sounds like a lemon. I'm glad I took the plunge to PCP. Even after this many rounds I'm hooked on shooting it. It's the cheapest price for a shot of dopamine in the world. Hope the o-rings sort you out and you can enjoy this drug addiction too!

My adventure with my first PCP is concluded. After quite a bit if waiting for the oring kits, and a video showing a tear down from another forum member...I decided to look at it myself....The pressure tube in mine was full of debris...no idea what it how it got in there...but that was disturbing. The leak was coming from the threads around the cylinder that holds the foster fill....not an oring issue. I haven't dropped or banged it. The rear of the cyclinder that houses the foster fill is plastic. Any attempt to remove it, to get to the o-rings, which I wanted to replace with higher quality ones, resulted in the plastic nut just rounding....I put it back together and it was worse....after numerous attempts at getting a seal...I could get to 1700psi, then it would leak around the threads and I could hear it from the rear of the pressure tube...which I didn't alter...just threaded it back in. I didn't over tighten it, it was only hand tight to start with. I'm pretty much over it. Cutting my losses and will stick with my Springer. I only shot it for about 6-8 sessions, never shot a full tin of pellets from it. It developed a leak at a few days past the one year warranty...I'm not throwing good money after bad. Maybe I got the rifle that was made at beer thirty on a Friday...

PM me a mailing address. The oring kits are not caliber specific, the magazines and barrel insert are .22

Sorry you had such a bad experience. If you are willing to just do one more thing, you might call the maintenance people at Pyramid Air. They are very helpful and also have/can get parts.

I did when it started leaking (no warranty) They were responsive, as far as communication..but not obligated beyond the warranty time....hence the long wait for o-rings...they told me they didn't have any and were waiting on Capt. oring....I'm pretty soured on the PCP thing for awhile...I didn't go in blind...the one year warranty was stated...but I guess I expected more...I should have researched more...lesson learned. I will stick with my Springer...possibly a gas piston later, but only if the springer breaks.

Here's some tips for you guys with Avengers.

    1) Get one of these "pipe repair clamps" at Home Depot. They are like $10 and the rubber sheet inside (can't see it in pic, the purple is a sheet of foam to protect tube where there is no rubber) really grips the tube so that you can get the end fittings out. When you put the fittings back in they only need to be HAND tight. No need to wrench them, the air pressure inside will not allow them to turn once filled.

2)Use 2 drill bits to get the inner plastic piece out that holds the ball which seals the filling nipple. This plastic fitting just keeps the spring against the ball so that it stays aligned inside the fitting. It does no sealing at all.

Also - don't use vice grips unless the fitting is already buggered up from a wrench slipping.

Here is another tip. Periodically, I add a drop of silicone oil (the pure stuff) to the foster fitting on my PCP guns just before filling. Years ago, I found corrosion in my Benjamin Discovery when I modified the valve. Now, it could have been from using an air pump as I didn't have an air tank at the time, but I still add a drop of silicone oil periodically just in case. You don't have to worry about it building up as the air blows out any excess. The last time I did some mods on my Marauder, I found no corrosion at all.

These days I fill from an air tank filled by a Hong Yeng pump with a molecular sieve (with desiccant indicator beads) filter tied to a oil separator so I'm probably getting moisture free air.

Agree as long as 100% pure. Any petro in it and possible explosion. There was a paintball instance when filling a few years back where oil on fill nipple was determined to be the cause.

Silicone will help keep the oring and ball working together in the avenger fill as long as it wasn't likes Chip's where I found a metal shaving embedded in the oring. No amount of oil would have helped.

If you look close you can see it in the pic

I know all too well what oil detonation can do. One time I was out of real silicone oil so I sprayed my Marauder with the stuff you buy at Home Depot. I thought I allowed enough time for the carrier to evaporate but, as it turns out, I didn't. The first round I touched off sounded like a .45 going off and smoke and heat rose from the rifle. I had to take it apart and replace most of the o rings and there was black soot all through the gas path. I learned my lesson that time for sure. ;)

Bigtinboat has successfully resurrected my Avenger. Filled and holding. Many thanks...great guy and great wealth of knowledge. I was ready to can it. I may get to use the stock pile of pellets I've amassed.

I have read some parts of this thread on and off as it pops up. Been thinking about an air rifle because "why not".
I would likely just put a scope on it and shoot it stock for a while before making it "quiet"
I have dive tanks at home. Can I use those to fill this up with the proper adapters?
Not certain I want to spend more on accessories than the gun itself.

You can use a dive tank with just a DIN300 fill adapter (ebay for like $50) as that's most likely the dive valve you have. If your tanks are 3000psi then you just won't be able to fill the gun as high. With the Avenger being regulated, the lower fill pressure will not have any effect on the velocity of your shot string. It will just be shorter. These gun work well with a lower reg pressure setting, especially for just target shooting.

You can use dive tanks. I use 80 CF tanks for the most part. You can tune the Avenger to work well between 2000 and 3000 pounds. You just have to fill it more often. I have my regulator set to 2200 pounds and I fill my tanks to 3200 pounds with my compressor.

When I want to take my Avenger to the club, I usually fill it to 4300 pounds using my compressor but you really never need to fill it that high. The adapter rig to fill the rifle from a dive tank consists of a clamp, gauge, hp hose and Foster quick disconnect fitting. The best place to get a setup is from www.airtanksforsale.com.
