Jeez, that Motion to Intervene WAS desperation. My gawd, terrorists can download files to make a plastic gun...

This is like machine guns and bumpstocks...I never had a desire for them or a 3D printer until it pushes their buttons...was just looking at printers on Amazon even...

When defcad.com comes back, I imagine how-to tutorial will be up as well.

    Hahahahahaha. From the complaint:

Well - if you don't have facts on your side, it couldn't hurt to do some mud slinging, right? That along with the "think of the children", terrorists, and other emotional ploys they're using.

They might as well label him an Atheist racist sexist woman beater too... But none of that will change the facts of the case.

The last minute attempt by gun control groups should be seen less as a 'Hail Mary' pass and more like the publicity stunt it is. Brady's Co-President was pm NPR's 'On-Point' yesterday announced their intervenor aspirations. This is little more than press release by motion. The court is holding a hearing today on their motion to intervene. I suspect that in the next day or so we'll learn that it was denied.

That was a good listen. Lots of howling at it.

    The freakout continues.
Beyond the Brady Bunch going for an emergency hearing, NJ's AG has sent DD a cease and desist from sharing files with NJ residents.
Congress critters going apeshit over it too.

Congressman Ted Deutch of Massachusetts also took a stand. On Thursday, he sent a letter, co-signed by 40 members of Congress, to the chairs of the Judiciary and Foreign Affairs Committees, calling on them to examine the settlement.

“The Trump Administration’s decision to settle this case will only worsen the gun violence epidemic in America,” Deutch wrote. “We shouldn’t have to wait for someone to kill someone in a House office building after sneaking past security with a plastic 3D-printed gun to do something to stop this. And we can’t let another day go by allowing the paralysis and dysfunction of Congress to prevent us from making our communities safe.”

"Undetectable" keeps appearing all over. This is an X-ray. What do you see?

Not sure where this came from, but Ted Deutch is from Florida, not Massachusetts.

The thing that's really got the antis riled up is the idea that guns can be manufactured that a) the government doesn't know about because they're not manufactured by a recording keeping company AND b) they can be produced without a serial number.

They're giving way too much credibility to the idea that somehow all guns can be traced.

According to the settlement an announcement would be posted on www.pmddtc.state.gov on or before July 27th. Just checked and it hasn't been posted yet.

A closed emergency hearing was called in Austin after the groups — the Brady Center, Everytown for Gun Safety and Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence — filed their motion just after midnight Thursday, a spokesman for the Brady Center said. Another hearing is set for 2 p.m. Friday.

    Now there's a change.org petition with nearly 50,000 signatures.
    "
"Stop Defense Distributed From Releasing Downloadable Guns"

    https://www.change.org/p/stop-defen...bi...x7ixMjQ4TdqaDwV2_2_9Aw.3&utm_term=387621

On August 1st, Defense Distributed plans to release downloadable gun blueprints to make untraceable, undetectable, plastic 3D printed guns. This could mean that anyone, including TERRORISTS, convicted FELONS, domestic ABUSERS and other dangerous people could print their own gun on demand.
If the State Department provides this special exemption, you will not be safe, even in secured areas because anyone could have a plastic gun.
IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOURSELF AND YOUR LOVED ONES, sign this petition and urge the US State Department to stop this dangerous reality!

Alan's tweet says they "argued to victory". Presumably that means the Brady motions were denied. Did anything post on the docket yet?

Good thing NJ law ends at it's borders!

    De Juris: Yes.
    De Facto: No.

Here is what the NJAG is really trying to do:

    1. Threaten out of state entity that if they provide the data to NJ residents, they will be violating NJ law (or violating a NJ court order).
    2. Because of the way the Internet works, out-of-state entity company cannot avoid breaking NJ law unless it stops disseminating altogether nationwide.

Maybe a Federal court would intervene to stop NJ from effectively regulating interstate commerce, maybe it wouldn't. Either way it's another expensive legal fight with potential criminal charges and fines if the publisher loses. IIRC, the NYAG and Mass AG pull this stunt regularly to get companies to change nationwide behavior with the threat of charges in a single state for actions that aren't illegal in other states.
