    2nd Edit: Also, you may have the safety, but it looks as if the safety plunger is missing? There's no grip safety visible (so no Colt) and while STAR eliminated the grip safety, they only made 1911 A-1 style backstraps, so the lack of a hump eliminates them.

    Earlier Stars had a straight frame (1922/early Model A/B etc). The Star 1921 also had a grip safety but it was not well-received.
    The Star firing system design doesn't accommodate a grip safety very well, like the Browning design does.

    There's actually a "sub-culture" that collect these kinds of home-made pistols, this one looks pretty well-made by comparison to some I've seen
    (like this "chrome" POS 'Star clone" I wound up sending back, frame actually built up of welded sections) :)
