Have there been many "confirmed" sightings of coyotes around Annapolis? I live off Riva Road, north of South River and have had to seperate reports from neighbors of having seen coyotes in our heavily wooded neighborhood.

Haven't heard any reports but I'm sure they're there. There have been plenty of sightings and small pets missing for a while now coming out of Pasadena

There's coyotes in Calvert county, half an hour south of Annapolis. Seen a dead one on the side of the road last year and another with no hair that looked like a chupacabra. Both in the same area of Huntingtown.

I spoke to a game warden earlier this year and he told me it is confirmed there are coyotes in every county in Maryland. So I would not doubt them being in the Annapolis area.

I am in Pasadena (Lake Shore) and have deer and fox in the woods behind me. I have not seen any Coyotes, BUT, my neighbor across the street have NOT seen the deer. They eat the Hastas in my front yard down to the ground, but she has not seen any. So I see no reason to say there are no coyotes?

Coyotes are in Naptown! They hang out with the weasels, such as Frosh and Owe'Malley. They are very annoying! They think gay is ok, but you better not have any AR15's! It's for the coyotes!

My neighbor saw one in crofton several years ago. He called animal control and they were less than surprised. Apparently there are coyotes all over the county

A coyote ran across my then - neighbor's yard in downtown Bethesda, one block of Old Georgetown Road, 10 years ago. If they were there, they're everywhere.

We have deer in my backyard (off Riva Road) regularly, eating my Rose of Sharon. Both Red and Gray foxes. One of my neighbors commented on seeing a "huge gray fox" (Our Gray foxes are the size od small house cats.).

I live right down the road on Governor's Bridge road and can attest to us having yotes in the county.

I usually see them when I am walking the dog @0430. I carry a super bright flashlight and can spot them pretty good when they stop running and turn to check you out. I am a bad estimator of size but figure they are in the 70-80 pound range. If I meet one when I am walking the dog in the woods, I will weigh it and we'll know for sure. :innocent0

I am up in Carroll, and my neighbor swears he saw one in his backyard. We have a rabbit living somewhere under our deck, so I hope it doesn't attract the coyote. I told my kids if they see one to go "Meep Beep" and paint an opening in the fence to run thru.

I heard the same from DNR personnel about 10 years ago. What brought the conversation up was the fact that I saw what was apparently very mangy coyote in my neighborhood in Crownsville (Arden on the Severn). Couldn't figure out what I was seeing until it looked right at me. I don't believe they are prevalent here, however, as there are still quite a few foxes (I hear they will often run them out or even prey on them) and I don't really hear any epidemic of small pets coming up missing. For that matter we have been getting run over by young deer the last couple years and if any significant coyote or coy-dog populations were present, I don't think that would be the case.

FWIW, when I had the previously mentioned conversation with DNR personnel regarding my sighting of what I believed to be a coyote, I was told they were in every county ibn Maryland and also that Lake Shore and Crownsville were 2 specific areas that had multiple sightings. That was probably 10 years ago.
