Just got this from MD's seven day jail...Colt Marshal. Colt made 2500 examples in the mid-1950s...mostly 4" barrels like this but a couple hundred 2". They're essentially nothing more than an Official Police with a rounded butt rather than square. They're one of Colt's more unknown models.

This one seems to have some honest holster wear but is mechanically tight and smooth with the rifling still like new.

Here it is next to the 2" barrel Marshal I have...

Another new pickup...Freedom Arms Model 83 .454 Casull. I've already sourced a supply of Federal ammunition which should be here before the week is out.

There are quite a few more powerful handgun rounds than the 454 today. It ain't close to #2 anymore. Whether that's good or bad??????

Both of those Blackhawks are dream guns to me. In their exact set up. Load for those and use them as he did! Which looked to be in the vein of good taste and accurate firearms

That 45-90 is another that can be made to pop dingers at 650 with ease! Check out Sagebrush Longshots on YouTube and see some of the old big bores of the day still stretching way out with irons. I got bit by that bug!

I know this is from a post that was several pages back, but there's a story associated with that 41 Mag Blackhawk with the ivory grips.

When we still lived on the farm, (we moved to town in 1972, so this was a good while ago) Dad was driving in one night to go to work - he pulled the 8 pm - 4 am shift as the lone on-duty police officer in my hometown of 2,000 people. As he was driving in, he saw a coyote running down the road, and it didn't run off as he pulled up, so Dad rolled down the window of the pickup, got the pistol from his holster (he could carry whatever gun he wanted) pulled up alongside the coyote, and while driving, took a shot. After he fired, he quickly re-cocked the gun, tracked around and fired again as the coyote was going down, and in doing so about put the pickup in the ditch.

He hit that coyote with both shots. He was proud enough of this feat that he wrote to Elmer Keith to tell him about it. Elmer always tried to answer his correspondence and wrote a letter back saying that he'd shot many things from a running horse, but never from a moving vehicle. :)

I heard my Dad tell that story a couple of times, which was pretty neat, but it's even neater reading the letter from Elmer Keith.

That is my dream pistol right there. Truly a thing of beauty.

Keep this sexy beast safe and sound.

I've been wanting one for a while...had to be patient to find a good one at short money (comparatively so). They tend to go for a lot regardless of condition.

They say the chase is part of the fun...nah...finding it and owning it is the fun!

Just picked three up from their seven day jail sentence. I keep running into deals when I'm cutting back on others. I found these in an auction for short money...I bid on several more but they ended up going for over my self-imposed dollar limit...but I can't complain with these.

Charter Arms Bulldog .44 Special..."Son of Sam Special". Like new.
