Nice area with minimal problems (other than traffic on 113, especially on the summer weekends) as compared to across the bridges.

There is plenty of new commercial build activity going on, showing that it is not a "dying" area.

Just about everything (except Wawa/RoFo/TacoBell) is closed by 10pm so it's not a wild town either.

The Retail Coach: Millsboro switches teams in quest of retail development

With several fast-food restaurant chains established along Millsboro’s growing highway commercial district along the US 113 corridor, the town is eagerly seeking to land one or more sitdown- style restaurants.

“Absolutely, we ‘d loved to land sit- down restaurants, and as I have said in the past a steakhouse or a sports bar, or multiple steakhouses or sports bars,” said Mr. Hudson. “In fact, I can report we have at least two or three sitdown restaurants in the pipeline. I can’t disclose who, but I do have what I consider to be good leads on at least two or three, which is exciting.”

Mr. Hudson believes this potential development is tied to hotel development and interest. An AVID Hotel is in the works and there are plans for another through Jim Parker Builders and that property along US 113.

“I’ve got to think that the hotels that might be coming might have something to do with that,” Mr. Hudson said. “The whole idea was that that would be synergistic, that the sit- down restaurants kind of ride on the proverbial coattails.”

Millsboro traffic sucks. Heading south on the dual, heading north on the dual coming over from 24. Heading towards Vines creek going through town yadayada. West side isn't so bad. Winter/fall not quite so bad too many people during the vacation months. Progress they call it. Little jersey from there on east towards the beach anymore.

No, it wasn't X ring. X ring is off of Rt 273 in Newark and has a great reputation. The place I was thinking of was off of RT 13 in Smyrna. It may have been on Commerce street but I don't recall.

Smyrna sporting goods used to be on the four corners in downtown Smyrna. But it’s been a long time since driving through there. You can google and see if they’re still there.

Edit: a quick google shows it still appears to be there.

For you DE guys, is there still a gunshop in Smyrna? I remember it used to have a lot of used guns. Of course, that was 20 years ago.

Mr. Gene Handsberry of Smyrna Sporting Goods, just passed away this past spring. He was a class act and a very nice man. The store is still owned by his family.

Got a soft spot for grottos. Back in the 70’s, my father used to cut his hair at a place in Rehobeth. They’d trade cuts for pies! It was just pies then and sit down on the one just off the boardwalk on main street. If that was too crowded, hitting the one in the boards half a block south of the turnaround/bandstand.

And on weekends we’d make trips from Milford to rehobeth, the whole family, for pie, walk the boards, and people watching, funhouse and the trampolines.

We hit the 5 points place last hunting season. We all went with the extended menu, vs pies. The company was good, a lot older when before, and the food was fine.
