This came out on Wednesday but I didn't see it posted elsewhere.
It was a telephone poll of 814 people performed on Monday and Tuesday (1/14 - 1/15). Margin of error +/- 3.5%
They compared the results to a CNN poll (details not provided) taken after the Newtown shooting.
Support for ban on semi-auto guns (handguns too?) 62% then, down to 56% now
Support for ban on "high capacity" mags - 62% down to 58%
The current poll shows only 39% of the respondents felt gun control would reduce gun violence but supposedly 55% support stronger laws. I'm not sure why the 16% feel enacting ineffective gun laws would be a good thing.
Poor parenting and popular culture were equally cited (37% each) for the gun violence problem. Only 23% cited ease of obtaining guns.
The article also conceded that the NRA's overall approach, including guards in schools (54% for 45% against), "resonates with many Americans"
I was surprised to see this biased source admitting to any of this.
