I got the stock and trunion in. I am pretty sure that I can get this to mount to an AR receiver directly with some milling. I may have to cut the center support and re-thread it. If nothing else, it gave me the opportunity to buy a tap and die set. I have 3 screwed up receivers to play with.

Not going to work. Something is always in the way. I'm sure you could easily use the trunion to make an adapter. I just don't know how to weld.....

Post up some pics of the parts you have. Shouldn't be terribly difficult to make a clamp on rig for a pistol buffer tube that then pivots for and underfolder brace. Have the brace saddle the fore grip would be interesting looking.

I'll do so later. Some folks also wanted dimensions. Any requests?

I am patiently awaiting the buffer to come in. While I was messing around a bit after looking at spec drawings for the holes, it would seem that my initial plan of using a tube as the base won't quite work. It would make the "U" shaped aluminum too wide for the stock hardware, and it would raise it up too high and interfere with the charging handle.

My new plan is too just bend the aluminum into the U shape and then cut out a moon shaped piece of tubing. By putting the U shape over the buffer tube, I would then use the piece of tubing to snug up to the underside of the buffer. I would need to get that welded in place, drill the needed trunnion holes, and hopefully that works. My buffer should be here next Wednesday, which is perfect since I am off next Thursday and Friday. Hopefully I can work on it and get some pics up.

Anyone know a welder in the Elkridge area?

Optics Planet shows 10% off code "QUICK" on their main page.

I don't think Optics Planet sold out. They are caught in IL mag restrictions. They are not allowed to sell anything over 10-rds. See their response here:

They continued to sell standard capacity mags for 5 years after the law was enacted. They only stopped after the last bit of pressure from the Left.

    And it starts....

I’ve got this piece bent to go around the buffer tube. I wish I could’ve made a more perfect bend, but it is good enough. Luckily the buffer tube has a shoulder on it for a brace. This will help for securing the adapter in place. I notched the aluminum to fit over the shoulder. I just need to file the edges smoother. Hopefully will have more time tomorrow to work on it.

Well, shit. I thought I was making great progress. I got everything drilled and bent up. I had to bend the lower ears in to fit the stock. It needed finish work obviously, and after the bends, I needed to figure out something else for the lower pins that was securing the bottom. But I digress. After getting everything together, the damn charging handle hit the bracket!:mad54::mad54:

So now back to the drawing board. I may have to go back to a plan which involves some welding. If I can find a tube that has a narrow diameter that fits over the buffer tube, then welding the ears for the trunnion tube to it.

Anyhow, here are some pics of everything before I have to start back over again.

Yes, dodging the charging handle, safety, hand grip / hand position and ejection ports created a lot of compromises. Your idea looks good. I think it would work if you could mill the clamp section out and tuck the pivot point up higher.

Put a side charger upper on it and alleviate one problem.

Side charger would definitely fix the issue. And in the current configuration, my grip is not affected while on the pistol grip. When moving my hand around, it does get in the way. I found a place to order some tubing which should work. I just need to take some more measurements. Like they say, measure twice, cut once.
