    1. ACTION ITEM: Loudoun County committee meeting ON MONDAY on shooting restrictions
    ************************************************************

Turnout is needed at the Loudoun County Transportation and Land Use Committee meeting THIS MONDAY (Feb 25) to oppose any further restrictions on shooting in Loudoun County!

Yes, the effort to restrict shooting in Loudoun County is still in motion! County Supervisors Ron Meyer and Matt Letourneau are still pushing the County to adopt these measures:

    * Increasing the outright prohibition on shooting to include far more of Loudoun County.
    * Doubling the distance from roadways where firearm use is banned.
    * Forcing private landowners to spend perhaps thousands of dollars to build County approved 'berms' to be able to shoot on their own property.
    * And specifying a specific 'angle' in which you can discharge a firearm.

The County Transportation and Land Use Committee is meeting THIS MONDAY, February 25, at 6pm. Address:

Main Boardroom and County Administration Building
    1 Harrison Street SE
    Leesburg, VA 20175

If you live in either Ron Meyer's district or Matt Letourneau's district, call them and politely, but firmly, let them know you oppose further restrictions on shooting in Loudoun County.

    Ron Meyer: 571-421-5818

    Matt Letourneau: 703-731-5729

    2. Senator Hanger, who opposes Constitutional Carry, has a primary opponent
    ************************************************************

Looks like Senator Hanger just got some bad news. Pro-gun Delegate Nick Frietas's wife, Tina, has announced she will be running against Hanger in a primary coming up a little later this year:

Criticizing his actions on gun rights, abortion and Medicaid expansion, she accused him of a “tendency to vote in line with the Democratic agenda on key issues.”

    3. Democrats want to restrict gun rights, unless you are an illegal alien of course
    ************************************************************

Gun control is a farce. First, Congressional Democrats are telling us that we need background checks to stop criminals from getting guns. Now those same Congressional Democrats are telling us that it is okay if the criminals trying to buy guns are also illegal aliens.

    4. Senator Tim Kaine puts in a bill to ban regular capacity magazines
    ************************************************************

Tim Kaine claims to "support the Second Amendment," while doing everything he can to destroy it. This bill outlaws magazines that hold more than 10 rounds. Existing magazines owned by an individual are grandfathered, but they cannot be passed on to another person.

Tim Kaine shows his profound ignorance of guns by introducing this bill on the anniversary of the Parkland, Florida high school massacre, in which the killer used only TEN-ROUND MAGAZINES!

    5. Illinois Police Chief deflates gun-controllers after workplace shooting
    ************************************************************

Gee, the killer wasn't allowed to own a gun, but he was still allowed to buy a gun after passing a background check. So much for Universal Background Checks and needing a Firearm Owner ID card to buy a gun or ammunition saving lives.

    6. Red Flag confiscations underway, thousands of guns seized
    ************************************************************

Gun controllers love Red Flag laws because they can snap up people's guns without going through that icky "due process" thingy.

Curb suicide with Red Flag laws? Sure! The only way a person can kill himself is with a gun! Uh, wait a minute...

    7. Members give kudos to Loudoun County, Hanover County, and Fairfax County Circuit Court Clerks
    ************************************************************

I received these emails recently from VCDL members:

    HANOVER COUNTY

Just wanted to pass this on. I moved from Chesterfield to Hanover two years ago and just submitted my CHP renewal application about 20 days ago. My current permit was to expire in April of 2019.

I was in the clerk's office for ten minutes, paid my $50 fee and they gave me a receipt. In about two weeks, I received my new permit via mail -- and the renewal date is April of 2024. That was a pleasant surprise for sure.

Hats off to the Hanover County Circuit Court, their clerical staff and the sheriff's office for such prompt & professional action on this!!

    FAIRFAX COUNTY

I know you are always looking for permit process experiences so I thought I would share a good experience with you.

Wife and I went to the Fairfax County Courthouse on 27 December for her to submit her new permit application. This was her first permit. The courthouse was fairly quiet that day and we were able to walk up to the clerk and submit her application without any wait in line.

On 28 January her permit arrived in the SASE we supplied. The permit application was signed as approved by the judge on 16 January and by the clerk on 22 January.

Considering the holidays in there and everything else, the turn around time was absolutely excellent in my opinion. They were well within their 45 day time limit and there were absolutely no issues.

I applaud Fairfax for their quick turn around of her permit.

    LOUDOUN COUNTY

Just wanted to give some kudos to Loudoun County Clerk of Circuit Court Gary M. Clemens and his staff. I put my CHP paperwork in the mail on 16 January 2019. About a week later, I received a letter stating that they received my application. I received my CHP in the mail on 4 February 2019. All told, from my mailbox back to my mailbox was 20 calendar days. I would consider that exceptional service!

    8. Some sheriffs in Washington and New Mexico refusing to enforce unconstitutional gun control
    ************************************************************

As the push for crazier and crazier gun-control increases in some states, even law enforcement is saying that the Constitution is being violated and innocent gun owners, not criminals, are being penalized. Some law enforcement agencies are not going to enforce those laws.

I would hope that law enforcement in Virginia would do the same for Virginia's gun owners.

The police chief of Republic followed the sheriffs’ route.

This video was shown at several VCDL membership meetings last year. I think it is an interesting concept in firearms retention and use during a close quarters combat situation.

Member Caleb Johnson just sent me this on the Loudoun County Transportation and Land Use Committee:

"They moved the Loudon meeting to a different room: Dulles conference room, opposite hallway."

Meeting is in progress right now.
