I had one laying around for 12 years and the up/down movement has seized.
I hit it with a hammer on the bottom and it's moving again.
However the rotating plate has seized also and is not rotating. It looks like it can be disassembled, is that something easy to do and a DIY project?

Call Dillon. Knowing their reputation, they'll set you up with new stuff.

One of the many reasons they have so few unhappy customers.

Or just send the whole press to them. For something like $75, they will replace the whole thing.

The way I figure, it had to go together, so, it's got to come apart. Maybe find an exploded parts list and see how it was assembled. Sounds to me like it just needs a good cleaning and lubing and put back to service. If you got the ram to float the other can't be that hard.

Push that handle down and look at the top of the ram under the shell holder and you will see a allen head screw that goes into the ram that holds the allen head secure that goes through the shell plate. I hope you understand.

Try the below procedure 1st. If you still have problems grab your phone, stand next to your Dillon 550 press and call Dillon.

There is an Allen screw on the press, part 13923 under the shell plate that must be loosened before you can loosen the Allen screw that is on top of the shell plate, part 13794. If the Allen screw on top of the shell plate is too far screwed in, the shell plate will not move. The Allen screw on the press under the shell plate locks down the Allen screw that is on top of the shell plate. See page 3 of the manual below and look for part numbers 13923 and 13794.
