And, I honestly don't see the issue with this. I would invite any LEO in also. It's not like I'm going to mistakenly forget to put away my mobile meth lab.

Who cares, as long as they are not REQUIRING they enter your home, whats the difference?

Yours is mobile? This is worthless without pictures!

this isn't the officers suggestion, this is someone way up making a decision with no field experience.

The last place any officer wants to be is in an unknown and uncontrolled environment where they KNOW firearms are present.

    my interview:
trooper as very polite and friendly
    asked to verify my info
asked if i was ever arrested/charged/convicted of a crime
asked why i wanted a permit
when i replied "Personal Protection and all lawful purposes" the trooper volunteered that i should include more reasons than that as they could help my chances.
    asked if i lived alone
asked if i was married or single
asked what gun i would carry and if i already owned it
asked how gun would be stored
asked if i know the gun laws
asked to state the gun laws, which i took to mean transport and carrying of firearms
trooper seemed happy with my explanation of the separation of guns and ammunition from the driver. Trooper stated they want firearms out of the reach of drivers.

one interesting note, it seems that Maryland is concerned with people being armed while driving, even if they have a CCW

asked if i drank and how much
asked if i use controlled substances

thats pretty much it. I was told there have been no changes to how MSP processes these apps (sounded like they are still using G&S).

Thanks for input. Was it a home or barracks interview?

Interview at Barrack P - Glen Burnie

    -Verified my info
-Why do you want a permit?
-Do you have any documentation of threats?
-Do you know the current law for transporting firearms?
    -Explain the laws.
-Do you know the current law for open/concealed carry?
    -Explain the laws.
-What weapon do you plan to carry?
-How do you store it at home?
    -Do you live alone?
-Name and telephone # of that person.
-Do you have any traffic violations?
-Do you use any controlled substances?
-Do you drink alcohol? How often?

That's about all that i can recall.

Trooper was polite, conducted interview in a professional manner.

She did say she does not make any final decisions.

Interview was pretty quick, maybe 5-10min max. Had to wait about 10 min too.

Police go into houses every day for various reasons. I assume most think there is a gun present no matter why they are inside a house.

I doubt anyone at MSP is telling them to do home visits. It's probably up to the Trooper if that location works then why not. If Burger King around the corner works then why not.

People read WAYYYY to far into this interview.

Wow - talk about taking things to the extreme. There is nothing in the application process or permit law that states that I am required to answer questions to "explain the law" to anyone as a condition of getting my permit. Interesting that they would take that approach, seems like another bad failure point if challenged, to me (IANAL).

Whats it been, 40 days now and no call or anything... +1 for military service with firearms training on my dd214

I'm in this boat. 35 days - no contact. Has any one with weapons experience/training on their DD214 been called? Hard for me to believe that we're in some sort of "don't investigate, just hold for approval" category. :banghead:

I'm the same as you, 33 days since acceptance and no contact, and yes I'm prior military.

Wow. As if the application itself wasn't an intrusive, unnecessary fishing expedition, now the troopers are adding totally irrelevant crap to the interviews.

    DD-214 for me also.
A better way to figure it out is to ask those already interviewed if they had a DD-214.
If they didn't, then we'll know something (maybe?).
