Any good areas to hunt grouse in Regions 1 and 2? I saw grouse just running along the road when staying at Seneca state forest a couple of summers ago. But I am thinking of trying grouse hunting on public land, no dogs for flushing involved. Don't give up your honey holes, but general recommendations appreciated.

Look for places that have been timbered recently. The grouse like to hide in the snags left behind. Untouched forest aren't going to produce many grouse.

This is the kind of grouse I enjoyed in the West Virginia backwoods
