Isn't Socialism wonderful? This from a Judge in the UK, Article in the Telegraph. I guess the UK is simply going to ban all items that can be used to cause physical harm, sort of like what you do in a prison or insane asylum.

"A judge has proposed a nationwide programme to file down the points of kitchen knives as a solution to the country’s soaring knife crime epidemic."

Great idea, until a criminal decides to sharpen his dulled knife. Oh, but a murderous criminal would never have the audacity to sidestep a minor law on the way to murder, right?

Kinda like Dumais' perenniel attempt to make a prohibited persons buying of a black powder pistol punishable by a three year jail term. The case she cites, the only one in the last brazillion years, was a murder. Life in prison is not enough of a deterrent, but life plus three years is? Oh wait, it's Maryland -- time will probbaly be served concurrently.

Note to self: request concurrent compensatory time for hours worked tomorrow.

Let's not forget time off for good behavior! Be careful on your time sheet, YOU would actually go to jail for fraud, as opposed to someone with obliterated serial numbers on the illegal gun, illegally possessed in their vehicle.

    Ain't Maryland grand???
