In the last couple of days I received a case of small rifle primers and some powder. Where do you go locally to purchase/pick up powder and primers. I’m in the Woodlawn, Baltimore County area.

    Checked Cheaper Than Dirt, online?

For a couple pounds of powder or 1k primers- Continental in Timonium or Clyde's in Halethorpe.
If you're buying in bulk, Shydas in Lebanon PA is worth the drive.

Shyda's seems to be hit or miss these days. The last two times I was up there, primer prices were only a buck or two different from BassPro. Powder prices are good if you buy 8 pounds but not as great if you buy 1 pound jugs.

All in all, if you have to drive a few hours to get there, I think it is cheaper to buy from someplace like Powder Valley or Pat's reloading or Jeff Bartlett.

I looked into Shydas and it appeared to be about an hour and a half drive for me. That’s too far to save hazmat fees. My time does have a value and I don’t intend on spending it driving to pick up explosives. I’m currently looking into what places near me, about a 30 minute drive, have powders and primers.

That was my experience as well, had used Shydas for years, would go twice a year. The last time I went I was surprised at the prices, when I got home checked Powder Valley and they were cheaper than Shydas, enough to make up a good bit of the hazmat.
Now I just do a big Powder Valley order and spread the hazmat over the whole order, beats the drive to Shydas which is 2 hours one way at best but has taken as long as 3.

I just placed an order with MidSouth Shooter's Supply and the hazmat fee was $16. Decent prices on what I bought and it was in stock. Shipping is running a little behind some other sellers right now.
I called Clyde's to check their inventory first, and they did not have what I needed.

Midsouth is my go to for a lot of reloading and casting stuff. If you want RCBS or Lyman molds, they probably have the best prices.
