Ha! I posted to confirm 3977 but forgot to hit "post quick reply" before turning back toward the radio. Sorry - too worried about losing the slot in the crowded band!

Had six of us on the air tonight. Thanks to all that called in, looking forward to doing it again next week.

EDIT - looks like I did hit post but didn't refresh the page before I made this follow up post!

I have a 12v power supply, several HF antennas and a Cobra 29 LX CB set that has the dreaded "ANTENNA WARNING" issue despite multiple attempts to adjust it. At this point it's a matter of getting the right advice, succeeding and...oh, yeah...TAKING THE TIME TO DO IT.

I keep meaning to add a CB to my shack.

But in a SHTF situation, I can do the CB channels on my HF rig. Not legal, but if I REALLY need it.

I got a Uniden 40 channel sideband rig when Radio Shack closed and still need a dedicated antenna. I can listen with one of the HF antennas, but have yet to transmit. Band is pretty bad...much worse than I remembered from the 70's, but there are open spots if one makes a sked with someone nearby.

Probably going to be hard not to toss out the call...

That will be an issue. :D

It seems they are not that expensive.

What would be a good one? Would it make sense to get one that does SSB also? Or stick with straight AM?

    Boy was it noisy!

Had a total of 5 in the net tonight. Thanks to all who checked in. Band conditions were challenging to say the least.

Brian and Jeff - it was great to hear you guys carry on a contact even though Jeff couldn't hear my transmissions. That's the way its supposed to work.

    Thanks all!
