Working on my first build, and have the lower finished along with upper receiver. Now I'm looking for a 16" HBAR barrel kit, any thoughts on Windham or DelTon, or any other suggestions?

    Build so far:
    Stag lower
    Stag Upper
    ToolCraft Nitride BCG
    CMMG LPK
    ERGO grip
    Magpul MOE SL Stock
Anderson Carbine buffer tube w/springs & Buffer
    Strike Ambi Safety
Ambi mag release, Norgon knock off
MilSpec Charging Handle (Radian Ambi on order)
    MilSpec Forward Assist

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks, Rick

Barrel kit? I've heard of completed uppers and even some upper kits, but not a barrel kit.

If you've got an upper, if stripped, you need an upper parts kit. Then you need barrel, gas tube (and roll pin), gas block, handguard (free float ones pretty much all come with the barrel kit), bolt carrier group and charging handle.

As for suggestions, palmetto has their 16" HBAR barrel on sale for $79 right now. I've heard good things. Grab a gas tube and gas block from them and pick out a free float handguard and you are done based on what it sounds like you have (do you have a dust port cover?)

Thanks Lazarus, Since this is my first build:) I like the idea of purchasing all the barrel components together and the price seems ok. yes I do have a dust port cover - Strike Industries Enhanced
These are the barrel kits I've looked at:

I'm leaning toward the Del Ton 16", 1/7 twist mid length, chrome lined. $228.00

    Windham does have kits;

I think Windham is awesome, having an HBAR Windham upper.

    Dreadpirate,
Very nice, a Dissipator is probably going to be my next build. Here is mine so far.

I've got a 16" 1-9 CL del-ton HBAR middy that I've been pretty happy with. The only issues I had were that the barrel nut was super under-torqued on the factory assembled upper. When I moved over to the yhm floated diamond handguard and had proper torque, groups shrunk considerably. Here's an example of a 100 yds group shot with cheap varmint tip factory ammo at 4x with the leupold mkar.

smokey0118, yeah thats the one I'm getting, don't know whether to go for the 1/7 chrome lined option or not. probably not.

Go into your pictures and rotate left/right or clockwise/counterclockwise and save.

PS: I'll second Del-Ton quality. Top of the line? No. But great for Mil-Spec rifles.

It depends what you're planning on shooting. If you're sticking with mostly 55 gr and 62 gr loads, 1-9 is the better option. If you may be putting longer 77gr bullets through it, the 1-7 may be worth it. I'm kind've partial to 1-8 myself if I'm going to pickup a new barrel somewhere down the road.

thanks, dread & smokey,l ended up ordering the DelTon 16", 1/9 twist, mid length gas, no chrome lining. I'll post some pics (probably upside down) when I get it assembled. Thanks everyone for all the advise. Starting to plan build #2.
