I finally finished my KRISS pistol. I haven't seen anyone else install a tail hook brace on a Gen 2 cheek rest so I figured I should post some photos. It takes some time but it can be done.

Ok..ok..please explain....so Im looking to get this, but can only find the sb tactical non folding brace, not this....where o where do I buy?:)

Unfortunately you can't buy this setup as a package. Gearheadworks.com used to sell the Gen 1 cheek rest but KRISS discontinued the Gen 1 folding stock, so no more cheek rests. You can still find the Gen 2 stocks but the Gen 2 is significantly harder to modify without looking like you cut it with a hack saw. The tail hook brace and KRISS tail hook adapter I used are currently available.

A lot of people are advertising the Gen 1 stock but the photos haven't been updated, they are all most likely Gen 2.

Also, the parts manufacturers recommend that you cut the lower tang off the folding assembly and destroy the butt pad to avoid "constructive intent".

If you have any other questions let me know.

Nice job, Decoy! This looks really well done. So... I’ll bite. How did you manage to modify the Gen 2 stock so that it doesn’t look like you cut it with a hack saw?

The problem is the lower part of the Gen 2 stock that is removed overlaps with the sides of the upper part of the stock. So you need to file the upper at three angles after it's cut.

I started with a mill, then moved to hand files and finished with sandpaper.

Ah! OK... so other than that... there are no additional complications? The Tailhook adapter fits the same as the Gen 1 stock?

How does this pass muster? The brace is clearly not inline with the grip (too low?) Also isn't this just taking parts and making your own non-approved stock? The ATF has warned against doing exactly that.

Did you modify a gen 2 stock. Mine came with a brace ( no where as nice as this set up) but mine is fixed and won't fold?

There are three stages of Kriss Vector changes over time.

Gen I: The trigger pulls straight back like a 1911 pistol does. It also has a place to insert a flashlight in the front just over the barrel. In all later models this was dropped. Mine has a big letter "V" inlaided on the front where this would have been on the Gen I. This model has a swing hinge type folding stock/brace.

Gen I upper receivers are not compatible with Gen IIa or Gen IIb lowers. Gen IIa and Gen IIb upper and lower receivers are interchangeable.

Gen IIa: This has the swing hinged type folding stock/brace. The trigger was changed to a pivoting style trigger like most firearms have. If you have a pistol version of this Vector, it would have a locked-in-place hinge with a AR tube sized threaded end that had a plug/QD sling swivel hole.

Gen IIb: This has a NON-hinge fully molded AR tube sized threaded breach end.

There has been a few other minor changes over the years but these are the basics.

    To answer your question directly...

If you have a Gen IIa with a hinge and an adapter that will not fold, you can set it up like mine and the OP by drilling out the hinge pin and installing a brace like in the pictures. The folding release button is missing. It is molded into the adapter. Once the pin is removed, you slide the whole adapter to the right the adapter just pulls out. The attached picture is what the adapter looks like removed.

If you have a Gen I, it can be done but it is more complicated. You have to remove the top rail to get a block out of the back of the upper receiver. I have not done one myself but there are videos for how to do it on YT.

If you have a Gen IIb, The only way to add a folding brace that looks like the earlier pictures is to get an AR to Hinge adapter. The only one that I know of that currently makes one is Yeti Wurks. Keep in mind that the their adapter moves the hinge back an inch or so and the side folder "hook" on right side of the receiver will not line up with the "hook" on the side of the folding brace. In other words. The stock/brace will not lock in the folded position.

On a side point. The hinge pin and the four pins that hold the upper receiver to the lower receiver are Large Heckler and Koch (MP5 Large pins). They can be bought on line for a couple of bucks each. If you buy pins from Kriss, they want around $30 plus shipping.
