I've had an issue with my competition USP for some time...my thumbs would always rest on the slide release preventing the last round from locking the slide back. I've just lopped off a section of my slide release, I could use recommendations on what to use to seal it back to black to prevent corrosion.

    TIA

Zinc or Manganese Phosphate solution will do the trick.

I like zinc, but then I'm more Fudd than Tacti-Cool. :)

And you gotta clean the cut edge up a little better.

Dremel is fine. Bubba is not.

    Agreed.

And you can use a diamond stone (or smooth Carborundum stone) to smooth that cut end, followed by a light touch on a belt or disc sander with 400-grit paper, followed by some 600-grit by hand. Then apply the blackening.

It will come out totally smooth and won't look like a kitchen-table gunsmithing project.

Love love love the USP. GREAT pistol.

Thanks guys. I'm not really concerned about it looking perfectly clean, more worried about function and preventing rust.

Since you don't care how it looks, some nail polish will work. I suggest pink.

    Fits the bubba job. :)

This is my Competition gun, if it does not help my shooting I could care less about impressing anyone.

This is the gun I use to humble all those shooters with perfect looking show pieces they think they know how to use. The dremeled edge is smooth so it won't cut my finger, looks a little rough but that's how I like it.
