    Hello All,

Usually don't have much trouble finding what I need online but this one is throwing me for a loop.

Recently came into an 1894 in .44 Magnum. It's a 1970 edition with the gold colored trigger and 100 year emblem in the stock. In pretty darn good shape (wood is great, a little surface rust in a few spots that I'm cleaning up) with one exception... it's missing its saddle ring.

After some searching, I'm not able to find any kind of replacements. All of the replacements that I have found appear to be for later models to replace their manual safety. From what I can tell, this is just a "simple" threaded hole that the saddle ring threads into.

Anyone know where to source one of these? Gold colored would be ideal but I'll take what I can get.

If they can't be found or are not reasonably priced, does anyone know the thread pitch of the screw so I can just plug it?

Not my rifle (obviously, since this one has the saddle ring) but this is the part that I'm talking about:

There was a guy on ebay who made repros for lever guns. Check it out.

I can't help you with your search but you made a light bulb go off in my head. I have 2 Marlins with that damn unnecessary safety on them. Not for long. Pretty soon I'll have 2 Marlins with new saddle rings instead!

    Where they send me.
I never really cared for the ring flopping around. So, I think I would simply plug it. Set of thread gauges are cheap and good to have around, but a set to see what the threads are and go from there.

    Wow, you guys are great!

So, the links that were provided were specifically for Winchester guns where as mine is a Marlin. There is also a differentiation between pre-64 and post 64 on the Winchesters.

Doing a search on ebay doesnt show anything specific to Marlins.

Can anyone speak with authority on if any of the Winchester rings would work on a Marlin?

I'm seeing different threads - 1/4x30 and 10-32. ll be at a buddies house this weekend and should be able to get specifics...

Ha, so seeing 10-32 threads reminded me that I had purchased some 10-32 plug screws for another project years ago (ironically enough, plugging some holes on a bubba scope mount on another lever gun).

Just tried them out and, sure enough, they were a perfect fit! Had to stack two of them due to the length of the threads but seemingly no issues...

Really wish I would have gotten the brass saddle ring that originally came with the gun but what are ya gonna do... not super down to spend the money for a replacement ring at this point.

Thanks everyone for giving me some options and ultimately leading me to a free solution/workaround! You all rock! :party29:
