Over last couple of months acquired 16 " barreled AR with 1 in 7 twist rifling. Never loaded for 300 Blackout before. Just tried two handloads (14.9 grs. 296, 150 gr, Hornady 150 gr. FMC, Starline Brass, WSR primer) and (16.4 grs. 296, 125 gr. Hornady 125 gr. FMC, Starline Brass, WSR primer). Both loads out of Hornady Manual. Both loads were accurate but based on recoil seemed pretty anemic compared to factory rounds (Winchester 150 gr. Deer Hunter XP). Haven't had a chance to chronograph yet. Fired cases drop back in to a case length gauge as if they were new sized brass.

What are some of your recipes using 296 (or any other powders) with 125 and 150 grain bullets? I have IMR 4227 and LiL'Gun on hand also. Not really interested in Sub-sonic loads at this time.

I started with 4227, did not do so well for me. Switched to H110 per advice of people here and did much better. when not reloading Powder Coated cast 170gr or 230gr subs, I reload 150gr bulk or 110gr Hornady FMJ.

I had good luck with IMR 4227 for supersonic loads (110 and 125) they shoot very well.

4227 will not work well for subsonic, does not generate enough pressure to cycle the action. Getting ready to try out H110 and CFE BLK to see if they work well.

I've mainly use imr4227 for supers. Lil'gun worked decent, but shot dirtier.

I also picked up a bunch of shooters world blackout powder a while back. Powder is optimized for subs, but cycled just fine when loaded for supers.
