I am very pleased with this 9mm carbine, the longer barrel and the stock improve the accuracy a lot. I want to add one the following, wonder if that is good idea, it is not cheap, to spend $85 for these add on:

    1. Bolt tube - supposedly absorb the recoil and save your chin ($14.95)
    https://www.mcarbo.com/kel-tec-sub-2000-bolt-tube-cover.aspx

    2. Fatter Charging handle - supposedly bigger area less pain on your finger when charging ($29.95)
    https://www.mcarbo.com/kel-tec-sub-2000-recoilless-charging-handle.aspx

    3. Recoil Buffer - help with recoil, as I read it, it soften the impact as bolt assembly hit the backend of the stock ($9.95)
    https://www.mcarbo.com/kel-tec-sub-2000-recoil-buffer.aspx

    4. Single point sling ($29.95)

I was not a big fan of the recoil buffer on my gen 1, but I was otherwise happy with the items on your list.

Single point slings are fine for the range and big pistols but if you like your díck they suck for anything else. It often causes what has been called the "unexpected prone" position.

I have the trigger kit, Extended mag release, extended charging handle and the Sling mount(helps keep the collar in place too).
I received the recoil buffer but haven't installed it yet, and waiting on the higher flip down rear sight, should be here tomorrow.

I would have bought the fatter charging handle if I didn't already have the extended one. Personally I don't see the need for the tube cover.

I didn't notice much difference with the #1, but still like it on there, especially when shooting in colder weather.
charging handle, yes. I also used the 2 fingered version and liked it.
I just installed the recoil buffer on mine but have not shot it yet so cannot comment.
sling adapter, no experience with that.

I can tell you that I upgraded a bunch of the internals on mine with MCARBO parts and they made a big difference.

I'll have to try to rent one at the range. I really wanted to pick some up through my brother in law's FFL ($300) but when I went to the Chantilly show and handled them they felt so "plasticky."

Thanks everyone for the input. I think I will invest in all 4 items to make my Kel tec experience more enjoyable.

per SteveH's comment, are you referring to the $139.95 trigger job?

is it difficult? it seems way beyond my skill set and comfort level. But like to tackle that one day.

yes that's it, plus a couple other things like the metal feed ramp. their how to videos are extremely helpful. not all that difficult. if I can do it I think anyone can do it.

Don't buy the fat charging handle, instead buy the charging handle cover. It works great and is only $9.99. The bolt tube cover makes it more comfortable for your face instead of touching bare metal. The recoil buffer does stop the metal to metal contact at recoil so I think it is work it.

    Love my Gen 2 Sub 2000. :party29:

I bought the Tacticool recoil buffer before reading the fine print. It wouldn't allow the bolt to lock back until I shaved it down to about 1/4" which didn't do much good. Yours looks like a better option. Not much recoil anyway. Good luck and enjoy. My sons love the Sub 2K.

I bought the tube cover, bolt handle cover, aluminum trigger guard & trigger & springs, the screw & bushing set, feed ramp and recoil buffer from MCARBO. I bought most of the stuff right before Christmas, when they had a big sale. The trigger springs make a big difference in how the trigger feels, and is a lot lighter.

For a butt pad, I took a Pachmayer slip on recoil pad and cut the sides down. It fits stretches over the butt and stays on tight. This keeps the poor butt design from sliding around on your shoulder.

I agree about the springs, they made for a much better trigger.
