Maryland Attorney General Brian E. Frosh announced the indictments of seven defendants, including one man from Hanover, for illegally possessing firearms after previously being convicted of a disqualifying crime.

Larry Elliot Anthony, 42, of Hanover, was convicted of second-degree assault and possessing a regulated firearm after being convicted of a felony in Howard County Circuit Court. On Dec. 7, 2018, officers seized two firearms belonging to him.

Seems like the article is referring to purchase of handguns in MD. Maryland's disqualification laws are quite strict any penalty of more than 2 years makes you a prohibited person.

Don't lie on a Red Flag application either.

    Oh wait, that's okay.

The thing with the red flag application is it is quite subjective. As long as someone thinks or feels something wrong about you their concerns are given validity without evidence.

So if they were able to lie and obtain regulated firearms, does that mean that the state doesn't actually do checks when issuing HQLs and not-disapproving purchases?

The question is, will he start prosecuting the people who break the law just by attempting a purchase and being turned down for being prohibited. In most cases, that’s the prospective buyer lying in the form, not being unaware they’re prohibited. Those people just go and buy on the black market, but maybe a few less on the street because they’ve been busted attempting a fraudulent purchase would help. Nah, it’s MD and they’ll be right back on the street anyway.

There would/ correction should have been failure on multiple levels for that to happen! :sad20:

So, no one has actually read the article. The headline does not match the content. They were arrested because they were in possession of firearms and they were prohibited. This article has nothing to do with anyone lying on the 4473.
