I do have one of those mags. I used it one day in an undisclosed location. It worked fine for me and my SKS with cheap Tulamo. That much shooting with an SKS made my cheek numb.

It looks like he is limited to 5 rounds in the magazine by Canadian law.

I have a couple of 30 round mags for my SKS. One is a Cobray polymer mag and it will not work with FMJ rounds. They are just long enough to cause a jam if you put more than 5 rounds in the mag. I have not tried it, but I think it would work fine with JHP rounds because they are a little shorter. The other is made by DC Engineering and seems to work well with any ammunition.

My preference on the SKS is to use the fixed 10 round magazine. If it ever needs to be used in a firefight, the stripper clips that I have allow me to reload quite fast. If you own an SKS, it is imperative that you also have some quality stripper clips. The NCStar stripper clips are absolute garbage and a waste of money unless you enjoy frustration while trying to load your SKS.
