    Sorry for the delay in this report. I came down with the flu on Wednesday night and slept for the next 4 days and lost 6 pounds. Quick description of this strain of the flu - a bus hits you at 60 miles an hour, backs up and runs you over a few more times for good measure. I could not believe how weak it left me. Anyway, I'm over the hump and trying to get caught up. I finally just finished reading and responding, where appropriate, to the 785 email that were awaiting me after 4 days.

    Here are the gun bills that were heard last Wednesday. Cliff's Notes: Good news: church ban repeal is headed to the Floor. 15-year CHPs passed out of committee and is in finance. Bad news: preschool and daycare becoming gun-free zones passed out of committee and is in Finance. We will be watching this bill carefully. Hopefully we can kill it in Finance.

    PRO-GUN BILLS THAT PASSED OUT OF THE SENATE COURTS OF JUSTICE AND HEAD TO THE SENATE FLOOR

    SB 372, Chafin, repeals 18.2-382, the "good and sufficient reason" church ban. PASSED 9 to 6!

    SB 811, Marsden, lays out method for taking away someone's firearms under a protective order, but provides no method for returning those firearms, gives too little time to sell or give to somebody to hold (24 hours - 72 would be more reasonable), and didn't account for the cost of the police storing such guns. DEFEATED 15 to 0!
