Correct me if I'm wrong, friend does not have a qualifying marksmanship training. But that is NOT required for Pistols like the 1911 correct?

I was notified in late december that my RGN came up. I did not have HQL. So I have done the HQL work, done the 7 day MSP wait... and on the way to Jacks Gun Works to pickup my Colt 1943 874XXX 1911. I was able to fondle it a week ago or so doing the paperwork. It took a CMP 1911 to force me to get HQL and do all this. I bought a handful in 2013 leading up to the HQL rqmt and had never bothered. It was a major PIA if you ask me.

You didn't need an HQL, all 1911 and 1911-A1's are well over 50 years old, thus classified as Curio & Relics and exempt from the HQL requirements. But now you have it and the horizons have broadened...
(CMP couldn't ship these direct to FFL-03's by law). |
