Just bought an ar15 with a 5 round mag. It is a C products ss mag. The thing is it easily holds 10 223 rounds. I am happy about that. I just want to make sure it is supposed to and wont have feeding issues. I would think it would only hold 5 if it was a five round mag correct? Once again I am happy with the extra 5 rounds just want to make sure. It is not a new magazine it came with the rifle.

Maybe it is intended to be a 5 round mag for 300 blackout or 6.8, and by chance it is able to hold hold 10 rounds of .225 or 5.56?

If so, I would be concerned that feeding might be unreliable if the lips were intended for a different caliber.

Take to a range, load it up and shoot it, you'll know pretty quick if it works or not.

OP, it would seem that your magazine was misidentified. Most mags of intentionally limited capacity will have a hard stop at the specified number of rounds. It appears you have a 10.

Take that mag and throw it in the gun parts junk drawer with the crap you're likely never going to need or use.
Then go to the next VA. or PA. gun show and stock up on as many 30 rd mags as you can afford.

10 rounders have their purpose, sighting in on a bench, testing reloads, getting your wife's attention from across the room...

The first two I can do with 30 rd mags and do all the time.
The third is intriguing to me.....do you sleep there after applying this technique
Asking for a friend with a wife who don't play that .
