Never met him but always enjoyed his posts, which usually went off on some tangent but always full of good stuff.
He was an interesting man, wish I'd run up there and bought a Garand or two from him, and absorbed some of his knowledge & stories :)
From his posts sounded like he was in a bad way for a while, hopefully he's at peace now.

I couldn't find the picture of his RU-6A Beaver "Good Guy 176" (pretty sure Lew posted it at one point) but here's Good Guy 822.

Mine [username] represents the callsign for a deHavilland Beaver that I flew throughout II Corps for 1st MI Bn (ARS), out of Nha Trang in 1966-67. Visited Tuy Hoa, Pleiku, An Khe, Mang Yang Pass, QL 19, Qui Nhon, Dalat, Ban Me Thout, Kontum, Camp Holloway, a few Korean field strips, some greased lightning PSP strips, DaNang, Marble Mountain, Can Tho, Vung Tau, the Rubber Plantation, Ton Son Nhut (where I transitioned into the Beaver), Long Thanh North, Cam Ranh Bay and a few that I've forgotten.

    ...RIP...

What a classy, moving post, and song. Thank you for that. I never met Lew, but as others have said, I wish I had.

The lyrics for that excellent song:

Of all the money that e'er I had
I spent it in good company
And all the harm I've ever done
Alas it was to none but me
And all I've done for want of wit
    To mem'ry now I can't recall
So fill to me the parting glass
Good night and joy be to you all

So fill to me the parting glass
And drink a health whate’er befall,
And gently rise and softly call
Good night and joy be to you all

Of all the comrades that e'er I had
They're sorry for my going away
And all the sweethearts that e'er I had
They'd wish me one more day to stay

But since it fell unto my lot
That I should rise and you should not
I gently rise and softly call
Good night and joy be to you all

A man may drink and not be drunk
A man may fight and not be slain
A man may court a pretty girl
And perhaps be welcomed back again
But since it has so ought to be
By a time to rise and a time to fall
Come fill to me the parting glass
Good night and joy be with you all
Good night and joy be with you all
