    Lew was an amazing guy! Had the pleasure of spending a day with him at AGC and hearing some of his stories.

    Someone please post a photo of Lew.
    I have been Monumental member for 33 years and his name sounds familiar to me.

    I've never seen a picture of him. He was the older guy who, until the last year or so, spent a lot of time hanging out in the Barnes Range house with a few rifles (usually Garands) for sale. He was fairly slim, clean shaven and (as far as I knew) always wore a hat. I'd run into him at the Howard County Gun show a few times too.
    If you ever talked to him, he always spoke highly of Tyler Firearms, so it is indeed fitting that they posted this thread.

    RIP Lew :patriot:

    That was him? Didn't realize I'd met him before.

    The community is diminished.
    RIP and Godspeed Lew.

    No man is an island entire of itself; every man
    is a piece of the continent, a part of the main;
    if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe
    is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as
    well as any Manor of thy friends or of thine
    own were; any man's death diminishes me,
    because I am involved in mankind.
    And therefore never send to know for whom
    the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.

    ------ John Donne

    Death, be not proud, though some have called thee
    Mighty and dreadful, for thou art not so;
    For those whom thou think'st thou dost overthrow
    Die not, poor Death, nor yet canst thou kill me.
    From rest and sleep, which but thy pictures be,
    Much pleasure; then from thee much more must flow,
    And soonest our best men with thee do go,
    Rest of their bones, and soul's delivery.
    Thou art slave to fate, chance, kings, and desperate men,
    And dost with poison, war, and sickness dwell,
    And poppy or charms can make us sleep as well
    And better than thy stroke; why swell'st thou then?
    One short sleep past, we wake eternally
    And death shall be no more; Death, thou shalt die.

    I bought my first Garand from Lew a couple of years ago. Met him for the transaction at AGC and he let me take it for a spin before buying. Went over basic disassembly and cleaning with me and gave some grease for it. It starting snowing and we both got stuck in traffic driving back home.

    RIP Lew

    RIP Lew. He may have been "crochety" but I asked a few questions about buying a garand and he gave me a book of info. I almost bought one from him after meeting him on here and then at the HoCo gun show, but I didn't pull the trigger. he gave me his card and told me to call him anytime. May the good lord treat you well Lew.
