Reported by Washington post correspondants on mpt's state circle.

They said he's not sold on the handgun licensing requirement as it may be too extreme an infringement, or words to that effect.

Let him know how you feel about the licensing requirement specifically. the cost of fingerprints, the extra hoops, the infringement in light of heller and woolard.

The exact quote from Monday was “Licensing begins to trample on second amendment rights"

I was going to thank him for his recognition of this fact but still stress no AWB which he said he still feels it will pass.

    What handgun licensing requirement?

Some of us have been at work all day, and can't find any actual information here on MDS, or from MSI.

    What happened?

I'm afraid that they put the license requirement in the mix as a sacrifice that they know won't fly. They'll take it out, thus hoping to look like they are compromising.

This is just a gun "registry" not to be confused with CCW permits. This would be a requirement just to OWN a gun. No thank you Douche-Malley.

The license thing still makes no sense to me. In my understanding, a license is something that enables the holder to buy the controlled items. You obtain the license once, and then periodically renew it.

But everything I read is a license for each purchase, and then another application to buy the item. It could just be poor writing. Or, I'm misunderstanding the words. I doubt the latter.
