I’ve met Mr Strickland several times. He’s as die hard #2A as they get and the fact Ms Watts got irked by him is telling.

He didn’t run in 2020 so Ms Watts remarks aren’t quite telling the whole story...

Not sure but our State Gun Owners of America (GOA) Rep says we have the support needed in the Senate...they’re all very optimistic.

I hope you're right although you could have support from every single Senator except the 1 or 2 in the wrong places and you're done.
As long as we see the senate start scheduling hearings then we should be on track. OTOH if it starts to sit idle in the Senate.....then we may know the fix is in. Hopefully TX may have a way of advancing bills past a committee if the chairperson is hostile and won't allow it for a vote.

That WAS the case for many years. An R as the Senate Committee Chair who always shelved these bills in the past. He’s no longer in, voted out...

Good to hear. TX would be by far the biggest ConCarry victory to date.

The Lieutenant Governor, Dan Patrick, has never met a camera he doesn’t like. He’s often on Fox News talking about border and abortion issues. The Lt Governor is also the President of the State Senate, where HB1927 sits after passing in the House.

Patrick saying there isn’t the votes in the Senate, without assigning it to a committee. :mad54:

"I plan to meet with law enforcement who oppose permitless carry and with the [National Rifle Association] and [Gun Owners of America] who support it to see if we can find a path that a majority of senators will vote to pass,” Patrick said.

In most cases, Senate bills require 18 votes from the 31-member chamber to be considered on the floor. There are only 18 GOP senators, so a permitless-carry bill would need the support of every Republican in the chamber to reach the floor — or at least one Democratic vote if any Republicans defect.
