Few gun companies do their own forgings or castings anymore. Most obtain their raw forgings from companies who specialize in that work...and those same vendors may sell forgings to many other companies. The quality and specifications of the forgings and castings depends on the contracts with each buyer and how they spec it out. Some will demand better quality than others and that's usually reflected in the MSRP.
