What are your thoughts on this gun? I am thinking of giving it to friend as a present. I read this about it and it seems like a good choice but I would also like the opinions of other people.

This would be more appropriate in the Rimfire forum, but, IMHO, there's no point to the SR-22 anymore. CMMG and DPMS both offer "real" AR-15s in 22lr now, at very reasonable prices.

It's a fancy 10/22 but at about twice the price. Found them $520 at Bud's with free shipping, so add in your local dealer transfer fee.

I'd get a 10/22 instead, maybe one of the new takedown models. Save the cash for ammo and an optic.

The 10/22 action has been proven to be reliable for over 50 years. Native .22 LR on the AR platform are modifications of the AR platform. Why not go with something that is cheaper, was designed from the ground up as .22 LR, and has been proven for over 50 years? The SR22 rifle is my choice for a .22 LR "AR".
