I started a thread about my Mauser in early 2019, asking for help identifying it https://www.mdshooters.com/showthread.php?t=232015.

Since then I’ve torn it down, cleaned it, and put about 100 rounds through it. It’s a blast to shoot, but I’m not a huge fan of the Lyman peep sight it came with.

Since this is a sporterized Mauser, I’d love to find a practical solution for mounting a section of rail above the action. Has anyone accomplished this, with custom work or using an available mount?

I would use a Redfield junior one piece. The reason is, the Junior will mount to the rear bridge without having to mill off the clip slot guide, or having to drill into the hardened area near the upper bolt lugs + they have rotary dovetail windage adjustable rings.
There are other two piece bases (weaver) that will sometimes fit the rear bridge without having to do an additional alteration or have to rely on an extended base to match the length of the scope you choose to use.
I bet if you looked on Ebay you could find a RJ one piece (USA) old stock mount for your rifle without to much difficulty.

Thank you for the reply. I’ve been looking around and they’re quite reasonable. But I’m not sure if there is a specific RJ model that would work with my Mauser, or different options.

Following! I want to do the same thing. The Mauser sights are not good with my aging eyes. Would like it to look period correct too.
