First coyote siting for me

    Tough call. Likely would've ran, but gone down eventually with a tight choke.

    I take it coyotes aren't too common in MD? I probably would have shot... In my experience (MI and CO) coyotes are tough to hunt specifically or are luck based, whereas deer, turkey, etc are easy to come by so I'm not too worried about scaring game to try and get a coyote.

    They've gotten fairly common in the last decade. I find sign of them fairy often although I've only seen them 5 or 6 times and heard them maybe a dozen times.

    I saw one in Frederick this morning. It was on the Island in Worman's Mill, so very close to Super Walmart and Wegman's if you know where that is.
    I got a long look at him as he trotted across a bridge in front of me and then we both stopped and looked at each other for a few seconds. It was a juvenile and looked like a typical coyote, not the new(ish) breed of eastern coyote/coywolf.
