I'm supposed to be selling my shotgun tomorrow, and it dawned on me... maybe I shouldn't have this guy meet me at my home. So, where do you typically transfer possession of a firearm in a private sale?

Thanks. I just called Gilber's Indoor Range, who said I can do so in their parking lot. Which is tons better than a vacant parking lot elsewhere in Montgomery County.

I remember the good old days where you'd look through the Sun classified ads and see a gun you wanted to buy and call the person on the phone to get his address, then go to his house and make the deal in his living room.

Gun shop or range parking lot is, by far, the best option. No one's going to freak out when they see a gun there.

This is usually what I do. Meeting at a range lets you shoot the pistol prior to purchase to ensure it actually works.
Wal-Mart. Gives me a chance to buy ammo.

+1 edges of walmart parking lots are often isolated, but still "public" enough not to feel too creepy. since they sell guns and ammo, transactions shouldn't be too conspicuous.

Pay a $10 or so range few and do it indoors at a place like freestate (assuming you aren't a member). Have yet to see anyone dumb enough to try and rip someone off inside a gun range... (I'm sure that stupidity exists somewhere, I just haven't seen it myself yet). Might make a new shooting buddy, you never know!
