Hey guys I'm not familiar with sks rules in MD, but a friend of mine got his sks confiscated by police.

Short story, apparently he bought the SKS in MD, box mag, brought it to CO, modded it to take a mag. Moved back to MD and brought it with him. Cops claim it was illegal to buy in the first place. And they are deciding whether or not he'll get it back, if he doesn't, they might charge him.

    Thoughts?

SKS with the standard integral magazine is 100% legal to purchase in this state

It would've been illegal to buy with the detachable magazine in this state

I believe once you mod the original config, You have to follow the 922r compliance rules

They (MSP) can "interpret" it as an SKS M which is banned. and now you have to fight it in court.
Its really a modded SKS and not truely an SKS M but again, go fight that in court and have fun with that.

You should get it back. It should have never have been confiscated in the first place! It's your property! Sue the state and the police and at most try to get your property back from the Communist thieves! At the very least sue them to make them spend taxpayer money to bankrupt that sh!thole!

Speaking about leftist liberal communists guess who will be re-instated this school year after he was caught masturbating in front of students on a Zoom class?? F@cK this State! Dude should be in jail but since he's a lefty and in Merryland he's not! Marc Schmuck didn't even face any charges but yeah let's slam a random guy who legally bought an SKS in Maryland and didn't harm anyone!

    From a previous article:
"Schack also performs at private parties for kids, his character name "Captain Silly Bone", certainly a weird nuance. An investigation of the incident is taking place."

Yes ! ( Notwithstanding certain Grandfathering . Did your friend do this converting before October 2013 ?)

SKS w/ Detachable Magazine is Banned .

Less than absolute zero chance of being returned . And the least of his concerns .

He could be charged with a 3 year offense , and thus become Prohibited Person .

The known history of such charging since 2013 is sketchy . If someone is otherwise up to no good , additional charges for Banned weapons are common . Otherwise plain vanilla Joe Citizen minding their own business , that LE somehow inadvertently sees such Prohibited Weapons ( say trunk lid pops open in a not at fault fender bender , whatever ) , insufficient data points to make informed prediction about inclinations of individual LEO , particular Agency , or particular State's Attorney .

But please Don't tell us more , have your friend contact 2A friendly , and firearms literate lawyer .
