The Great American Outdoor show’s official listing above—that Brother byf43 brought over directly from their website—is confusing.

The show runs 9 DAYS in a row, with the weekdays the best choice for some folks wishing to avoid the super-crowded weekends:

    Saturday, February 2: 9:00am - 7:00pm
    Sunday, February 3: 10:00am - 5:00pm
    Monday, February 4 - 10:00am - 7:00pm
    Tuesday, February 5 - 10:00am - 7:00pm
    Wednesday, February 6 - 10:00am - 7:00pm
    Thursday, February 7 - 10:00am - 7:00pm
    Friday, February 8: 10:00am - 7:00pm
    Saturday, February 9: 9:00am - 7:00pm
    Sunday, February 10: 10:00am - 5:00pm

Any recommendations on parking? How frequent are the shuttles? Not overly excited about waiting for a bus when it’s in the teens.

I’ve always gotten there about an hour prior to opening on weekdays and have been able to park in the lots right near the building. The lots do fill up though closer to opening time. I would imagine weekends would be worse.

This Sunday might not be so bad, I think there is some football game or something going on later in the day.

We went last year, on the final Saturday. BIG mistake!
Rain/snow. Had to park about a mile away. Stand in 'weather' until shuttle arrives.

    PACKED inside the show.

Had to stand in 'weather' to get back to the truck.

Going this Sunday, this year. Staying overnight.
Doing the show Sunday and Monday.

Hoping that the crowds won't be too bad. (Watch. I just jinxed myself!)

Absolutely less crowded and easier (closer) parking compared to a Saturday.

You might miss out on a beef jerky competition or something else they only run on Saturday... the vendors are there all week.

Few years back there was a guy there doing a thing with birds of prey, pretty badass seeing a huge bird flying around inside.

I’ll be there Monday. Hoping to score some show deals on a cover for my truck and maybe treestand.

Sorry, I know you just reposted their confusing rundown.

I’ve added more of that explanation to my post #2. Thanks for starting the thread!

The two times I have been to the show in past years were both weekdays and I felt that was a great choice. Yes, I might have missed seeing some of the TV celebrities that are more likely to be there on the weekends, but I thought it was a fine trade off for me as I go to see tech and not to see celebs...

Def going on a weekday, the weekend crowd and parking would push me to stay home and sew lol

As if that would be a negative thing?:o

It's happening.... And, when these guys who don't have new drink coasters and quilts are jealous, it's their loss.

Yes, I just added quilting into the disciplines too. :D

This is my hometown and I'm VERY familiar with the show, venue and geography. Go on a weekday, it is much less crowded. Parking instructions are below.
Pull up Google maps to follow along...
I-83 to Union Deposit Rd (left/west at the light) This is 2 exits before I-81
~1 mile to Progress Ave (right/north at light)
~1.5 miles to Elmerton Ave (left/west at light)
~2 miles to well labelled lots on your left (Bamberger/Sycamore Dr)
Shuttles run every 10 minutes or so from there.

This is not the most direct route. However, I can promise this will be the fastest route, as zero traffic is almost guaranteed and only locals know how to "sneak in the back door". Ask any PP member who went to Trump in Harrisburg; they will confirm what I'm saying.

The good news is my wife got the boys and me a very thoughtful Christmas gift of tickets and a hotel for two nights. The bad news is I’m stuck with the shoulder to shoulder crowd on Saturday.

We went on a snowy weekday last year, got there about 9:45 and parked within a long snowball throw of the main entrance for the gun hall. Got pretty packed around lunch and died off around 5pm. Yeah, we spent the day and packed lunch and had a pretty good time. Precision will have a ton of Magpul stuff. Taylors a bunch of repro's. Otherwise sticker and brochures. Son wants to go but I'm not that interested since it'll be the 3rd in a row and it the vender lineup is getting smaller.

    No worries.
