I am looking for the VW equivalent of Yung's Auto in Clinton . Specifically an 80 something yo master mechanic that has specialized in one brand his whole life , has seen Everything , and has it all in his head .

Once upon a time in my Honda Civic era , I had a mystery intermittent electric problem that stumped me , and a half dozen shops , both general and electrical .

Pulled in Yung's , explain to young guy behind counter , he walked into back , translated into Korean for Honorable Grandfather , and without even looking , imeadately diagnosed the particular relay under the dash that after 20 yrs of sunlight heating the dash , the internal insulation became brittle . And that was indeed it .

On Littlefoot44's Diesel Beatle , has under the care of the most recommended general Auto Electric specialist in the region have all new battery , alternator , starter , and ( I think) Starter cable . I'm personally at a loss for anything else the lack of starting ( failure to effectively turn over ) could be . So hence looking for a Brand Specific Master Jedi .

Added - So PG or norther SOMD would be bonus ,but at this point I'd travel farther for a Master Jedi .

And yes , the car is otherwise in good shape with lots of life left , and was a generous gift from her Uncle .

Hollywood auto tech 301 475 5468. They're not 80 year old korean wizards, just menonnites, but they do alot of vw diesel work. Very honest and reliable people. Might be further south than you want to go. 23899 Hollywood Rd, Hollywood, MD

I'm a VAG, specifically an Audi guy. It was not uncommon in the C4 (had one) chassis to have a wanky ignition switch. Another common failure in the D2 (have one) chassis is the junction of the battery to starter cable corroding all to hell. Have you jumped directly to starter?
