    Hey, folks.
Still recovering from our house fire and are
at the point of needing estimates on a two
zone A/C system with two mini-splits.
We know Winters Heating and Cooling
up there in Leonardtown, has a very solid reputation.
Wanted to get one or two more estimates.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

I have this company worked on my HVAC before. They are honest. Not sure if they are far from you (Upper Marlboro).

You don't want an estimate. You want a quote. Great Mills Heating and Air.

FWIW from personal experiences I would not use T-N Bowes. For awhile they were the company we used at work for the building I work in.

Always something wrong and they sure liked to come in and milk that cow for all they could because they knew it was easy $$$ to keep 'fixing' it. Every 3-4 months they were in there for something...

The last time the heat pump 'died' they finally wised up to the BS and called Great Mills HVAC. Kirk and crew were out there in an hour and diagnosed the problem in 5 minutes. Undersized feed and a faulty contactor (both done by T-N-B) and 2 years later it has not failed since then.

Hancock's in Loveville, MD, Mark and Bobby are good people. I have also heard 2 positive experiences from close friends on TN Bowes, both complete new system installations in the past few years. They both claim best price and good support after the job.

Pax Heating and Air are great and very competitive. I believe that their high SEAR Amana unit has a lifetime warranty on the compressor. Good luck.

    +1 for Mark Hancock

While you are installing new, install UVC air sanitizers also.
Another one for Hancock HVAC. I’ve used them for my annual PM for the last 10 years. I also had them do a complete HVAC replacement on my previous house about 20 years ago. Great job. That’s why I stayed with them on my current house PM.
Both Mark and his brother Bill are good people.

What brand are you looking at? We’ve had a Lennox Elite heat pump system that was installed in 2000. Looking at Lennox, Trane and Daiken.

    MightyDog, thanks for asking...we had
Tranes at our Port Tobacco house, and
were pleased. But, that was 15+ years
    ago.
Am hearing Goodman is now a good bet
at 18 seer, which seems to be the size
we’re looking at in our rebuild.

Ignorant as I am, I didn’t know there’s a difference...but, now that I see it in writing, I get it! Thanks.

You and me both, somehow I made it to my forties without realizing there is a difference. That knowledge will come in handy shortly, as somehow my builders grade heat pump that was installed in 1997 is still ticking but an absolute energy hog.

The benefit of the Forum at its best...
sharing knowledge and resources within the community...a virtual “best friend” no
further away than the keyboard. Not that
we are always “friends”... but, post
something about the loss of a loved one,
and especially of a beloved dog, and we
    are all right there.
