Anyone who has this app chime in please.
Is this app specific to the scope they are checking for illegal exports or does the user input scope type into the data subset for shot data?
I’m also curious how the user data will help determine exports minus repeated purchases or target scope additions.
I’m going to claim ignorance on how this app works but even i think this is pretty damn broad.

This might be a viable tool to help locate enemy insurgents in Afghanistan if they got data on the app being used there. The idea that someone here would download the app stateside before illegally shipping the scope to a foreign country seems very odd unless they have intel that the scopes are being sold along with a phone preloaded with the app.

In this case you would need to use something like LineageOS without any google apps, then download the app from APKmirror or another similar site. Then you would have access to this app without going through google, as long as the app doesnt require any Google services.
Specific app to specific hardware.
I still have tinfoil on this; I believe the feds know but are simply looking for a cover story on how they know so its not blown that they (illegally) monitor EVERYTHING

I have been saying for a while now, IF they succeed with an "assault weapons " ban, scopes and high powered "sniper" rifles would be next. I mean, who needs a high powered rifle, with a high power scope to shoot an animal a mile away? If you cant hunt your animal within 100yds, you suck at hunting right? I mean, people use bows and shotguns.
Then, shotguns will be declared dangerous multi-projectile assault weapons. Who needs 9-15 bullets per shot?
And so on, so on........

This is insane. Went to a seminar recently that encouraged reading terms of service for apps/websites specifically for things like this.
