    Guys,
I have to make up a new map of the building where I work showing escape routes, fire extinguisher locations and safe areas.

I have NO experience in this matter and would like to find a site that could do the building layout.

Anyone have any experience in this?

It's been a few years, but I used WinSketch for all kinds of things like this and more.

I don't know if it's still around or if a free version is available.

    Good luck.

In our federal facility, CADD escape maps are a service our engineering department will provide. Check and see if there are as-built record drawings that could be copied as a base map.

Use graph paper and a straight edge, should be able to come up with something good enough

This is true, it does not take anything fancy to satisfy the requirement. I had hand drawn sketches all over the place. You also don't need the entire facility on each sketch. Escape route from where you are and an alternate.

    Guys,

What exactly is a "safe area"?
I get it if its a big plant where you want dozens or hundreds of employees to gather for a head count but not at a funeral home.
I'm just curious who would require such a thing.
